... turning saints into the sea, swimming through sick lullabies, choking on your alibisThe Sec 3 Lit class is doing an adaptation of a Shakespeare play called
Othello. The play is about this guy named Othello, who is like some kind of uber warrior, and is married to this hot chick named Desdemona, and everything about him is wonderful, except one thing: he is an insanely jealous person.
... but it's just the price i pay, destiny is calling me, open up my eager eyesThe reason everything starts going downhill in the play is that Othello is easily convinced of his wife's infidelity - but she's actually a very virtuous woman who loves him very much and is completely faithful. (In our version she also makes horrible onion cakes, but that's something else altogether.)
... cos i'm mr brightsideOthello's jealousy is what drives him to forsake his happy marriage and kill his beloved wife. Then when he is shown evidence of her faithfulness to him, he breaks down, loses it, and kills himself.
... now they're going to bed, and my stomach is sick, but it's all in my head, butWhat makes people jealous? Insecurity?
... she's touching his chest now, he takes off her dress now, let me goWhat drives people to such a horrible state of mind: constantly suspecting the one you love, the one who's supposed to be the one thing you try to hold on to? Is jealousy ever really justified?
... i just can't look, it's killing me, and taking controlIf I can get jealous, something is wrong somewhere. And it probably means it's time to let go.
and i'll return to you somehow: 22:31
